The 8th edition of 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally &Concours Show 2018 was a glorious stepping stone towards bringing India forward on the motoring tourism map. The condition, restoration and historic interest of a hundred cars were assessed in the show field. The “Best of Show” prize went to 1937 Rolls Royce 25/30 owned by Den Gidwaney.

This best of the show winner1937 Rolls Royce 25/30 from Delhi is a combination of beauty, history, and style, these three elements are the very definition of elegance.

The 21 Gun Salute Concours Show, held at the Ambience Greens, Golf Course, Gurgaon on 17th & 18th Feb 2018, drew around 125 vintage cars from all over the world. First conducted in 2011, the 21 Gun Salute Concours Show, has grown to be India’s premier celebration of heritage & automobile. This year also, only the most beautiful and historic cars were invited to appear on the famed show field and connoisseurs of motoring and heritage gathered to admire these rare masterpieces.

The weekend commenced on Saturday with the rally flag off from India Gate that culminated at the Ambiance Greens. Organized by The 21 Gun Salute Heritage & Cultural Trust at the Ambience Greens, Gurgaon, the 2nd day of the 21 Gun Salute Concours Show held on the 18th Feb, 2018 offered a unique opportunity to connoisseurs and families alike, all of whom were enthralled by the event’s program, which simultaneously celebrated the greatest automobiles’ and Indian Heritage, with numerous cultural performances and activities installed around the show field specifically for the occasion.

A panel of around 40 renowned international experts judged the cars that were allocated to15 classes. In each of the 15 classes; rareness, history, state of conservation and upkeep were the main criteria taken into account by the esteemed jury when examining the cars to select the “Best of the Show.”

Gurgaon, 17th February: On Saturday 17th February, Over thousands’ of people gathered at the Ambience Greens, Gurgaon to celebrate the 8th edition of the 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally &Concours Show. The latest edition of this event confirmed the importance of the competition and is now considered to be one of the finest heritage motoring events by both the automotive connoisseurs and collectors alike, who now rate it without a doubt amongst one of the top Concours and Vintage Car Rally in Asia.

Taking India forward on the global heritage motoring map, the 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally was flagged off from India Gate and it concluded at the Ambience Greens, Golf Course, Gurgaon; where the fleet of 125 vintages/classics & 35 Vintage Two Wheeler represented the passion of the best international car connoisseurs and national automotive enthusiasts.The increased international participation and a rise in the number of visitors since the first edition in 2011, illustrates the Indian car collectors’ & global motoring enthusiasts’ fondness for this event.

After the Rally Culmination, 21 Gun Salute inaugurated “The Vintage Car Concours show” and it was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Honourable Shri V.P.Singh, Governor of Punjab, in the presence of many other esteemed personalities including Mr. K.T.S. Tulsi, President, Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCI) Mr. Luigi Estero, Charge’d’ Affairs, Embassy of Italy, Shri Suman Billa(IAS), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism & Mr. Madan Mohan- the man behind the grand rally & show.

Mr. Madan Mohan, Founder & Managing Trustee, 21 Gun Salute Heritage & Cultural Trust said “Celebrating the spirit of motoring, this show narrated the untold legacy & rich cultural heritage of India. “The occasion also brought along, an impressive touch of royalty, so integral to vintage cars, as the descendants of a few erstwhile royal families of India participated in the rally with their prized possessions” added Mr. Madan Mohan.

The show field gates opened on Saturday afternoon to welcome in crowds of guests who came to admire the finest automobiles in the world and discover – or rediscover – the elegance of the cars of yesteryear with bodywork sculpted by some of the greatest names in automotive design. The event also welcomed thousands of visitors from around the globe and many eminent guests, royal families, and renowned personalities.

This year the show showcased a wider representation of different makes & marques; the oldest participant being the 1903 Humberette from Mumbai. The event also showcased an array of Rolls Royce cars including the 1908 Silver Ghost, the 1930 Phantom II, the 1938 Phantom III and the 1965 Silver Cloud III, to name a few!

The event also showcased a few last surviving editions, such as the legendary 1939 Delage D-8 from the USA and the 1965 Silver Cloud from the UK. The 1942 Packard 180 Limo the sole survivor of the pre-world war Packard’s along with the restored 1938 Armstrong Sidley, previously owned by Maharaja of Kapurthala was also among the head turners.

21 Gun Salute Concours Show has a long and very strong relationship with Royal Families of India, which is evident from the presence of cars at the show field that were once owned by the ex- maharajas of princely India. The 1935 Chrysler Airstream C 6,owned by Yuvraj Sri Yograj Singh ji Chavda, the 1937 Steyr Daimler 220 owned by Yuvraj Shri Harshvardhan Singh, 1929 341 B Cadillac and 1931 370 A Cadillac, owned by Dhananjai Singh Khimsar  are a part of the event this year. Other Vintage cars were participated from Delhi, Kanpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, Chennai, Ahemdabad, Mumbai, Pune & Nagpur.

1922, three liter Bentley (Le Mans) and the 1937 4 ½ ltr Bentley 2 door tourer were also the highlights of the event.  The first day of the prestigious 21 Gun Salute Concours Show, 2018 delivered more than its share of fantastic automobiles and historic moments. The 21 Gun Salute Heritage & Cultural Trust, hosted a rally where enthusiasts enjoyed the beauty of great cars amidst a cultural setting. Along with this the event also took up a social cause of raising funds for the children with special needs.

The first day of the event incorporated a full day of colorful cultural fest, representing India’s pride, glory & cultural elegance, along with an exclusive display of vintage & classic cars at Ambience Golf Course Gurgaon. Elegant classical dance performances likeKathak, Kathakali, Bharatnatyam, Odissi& other distinct cultural performances from across the country, like Ghoomar folk dance of Rajasthan, Banchari dance of Haryana State, Nagaland folk dance performance, Uttrakhand folk dance performance and many other cultural & classical performances were a sheer delight to watch.

Kia Motors to speed up SP compact SUV (Hyundai Creta-challenger) launch in India

Kia Motors seems enthused with the response it got for the SP Design concept compact SUV. The SP Design’s production version was to be launched in India by Diwali 2019 but now Kia could advance the launch by a few months. The new Hyundai Creta-challenging compact SUV from Kia could be launched by the middle of 2019. This is in response to the great response the vehicle got at the Auto Expo and also the fact that the completion of Kia’s first factory in India is progressing much faster than anticipated.

For now, we know for a fact that the Kia SP Design SUV’s production version will be priced at a premium to the Hyundai Creta and the Maruti S-Cross. Kia has noted that it will not compete directly with Hyundai and Maruti on pricing and will instead take a premium approach to both pricing and features offered on its vehicles. The company
has also revealed that the SP compact SUV will be a global product. The platform it’s based on can also be used to make a larger, longer vehicle with 7 seats. This is something Kia could look at in future for India.

After the SP compact SUV’s launch, Kia has planned two more cars for the Indian market. The compact SUV will be followed by a sub-4 meter SUV offering in 2020. This SUV will take on the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport, and will sit under the Kia SP. One more car, which is also expected for 2020, is a premium hatchback, meant to take on the Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20. So, by 2020, Kia will have three cars operating in high-volume segments of the Indian market.

A game changer for Cervical Cancer

In women cancer cases as well as mortality is uphill. The main reason can be attributed to low awareness and late detection.

As per the data “Our country stands third after China and USA for the highest number of cancer cases among women which are growing per annum at 4.5-5%. Every eight minutes, one woman in India loses the life battle due to cervical cancer. Approximately 1.2 lakh women are suffering from cervical cancer in the country and in the coming year’s cervix cancer will top the list. India alone stands for approximately 25% of global deaths due to it.

HPV is also implicated in cancer of the anus, vulva, vagina, and penis, as well as some head and neck cancers.

One of the most recent advancements in the molecular diagnostic market is the ·single-cell assay for HPV E6/E7 mRNA detection in cervical sample.  Premas Life Sciences Pvt., Ltd. a specialized Life Science Distribution Company, has brought the new Diagnostic tool “IncellDx HPV Oncotect 3Dx” in an exclusive tie-up with IncellDx, Inc. The biggest USP is that it offers a more accurate Cervical Cancer Screening Tool.

For LSIL or ASC-H patients, a positive HPV Oncotect 3Dx may indicate the presence of a high-grade lesion. A negative HPV Oncotect 3Dx result correlates with a lower likelihood of a high-grade lesion.” Further added Mr. Praveen Gupta.

Mahindra KUV100 Electric SUV shown at the 2018 Auto Expo; 350 km range, 186 Kph top speed expected

Mahindra officially showcased the KUV100 electric SUV at the 2018 Auto Expo. The micro SUV will be called the e-KUV100, and will be launched in the Indian market during 2019. The vehicle shown at the Auto Expo featured the same mechanicals as the eVerito, which means that it has a 40 Bhp electric motor, good for a 140 kilometer effective range. It also features a fast charging facility, that recharges 80 % of the battery in just 90 minutes.

The production version of the e-KUV100 is expected to use a much more powerful electric motor, a stronger battery pack for both longer range and peppy performance. In fact, the CEO of Mahindra Electric, Mahesh Babu, revealed that the e-KUV100 would have a range of about 350 kilometers, a top speed of 186 Kph and a 0-100 Kph timing of just 9 seconds.

This will make the micro SUV extremely attractive to those who want a peppy city runabout. The acceleration timing and top speed numbers actually make the e-KUV100 as fast as many of the hot hatchbacks sold in India, if not faster. Expect a price tag close to the Rs. 10 lakh mark for the new e-KUV100 given the performance specs and range on offer.

The EV will get a range of other technological innovations found on Mahindra’s electric cars – remote diagnostics, cabin pre-cooling, location tracking and smartphone connectivity. In terms of design changes, the e-KUV100 shown at the Auto Expo featured a closed front grille but with the same design as the ones on the petrol and diesel models. There are blue accents on the grille and fog lamp housings and projector headlamps.

At the rear, the tailgate gets a grey garnish. Apart from these changes, the e-KUV100 looks quite similar to its internal combustion engined siblings. The e-KUV100 is likely to be sold as a top-of-the-line brand builder in the micro SUV’s line up. Mahindra is not likely to aim for large volumes with this vehicle, at least initially, given the fact that India is yet to warm up to electric vehicles.

Apart from the Redmi Note 5, the company is also bringing in the Redmi Note 5 Pro model in India, making it the handset’s global debut. The Pro handset packs the Snapdragon 636 processor under the hood, and has a dual camera setup on the back (with 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensors). It will come with only one internal storage option (64GB), and two RAM variants – 4GB and 6GB. Both the Pro model and its sibling will be available in four colour options, namely Black, Lake Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold.

Redmi Note 5 price in India, release date

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 price in India will start at Rs. 9,999 for the variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. As for the Redmi Note 5 Pro price in India, buyers will have to spend Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM variant and Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM model. Both smartphones will go on sale in India via Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home offline stores starting February 22, and will be available in other offline stores “very soon.” Jio will be giving cashback worth Rs. 2,200 and 100 percent additional data on buying the new Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro smartphones.

The Xiaomi Mi TV 4 was also unveiled at the event, making India the first market to get the company’s TV outside China. One of the biggest highlights of the TV is that it measures just 4.9mm and is claimed to be 30 percent thinner than the iPhone 7. The Mi TV 4 in India will come with a 55-inch 4K display (3840×2160 pixel) display, and sport a frameless design. It comes with integrated Mi TV Bar with 10 speakers, 2 wireless rear satellite speakers, and a subwoofer. The TV supports Dolby Atmos audio technology with 2 up-firing speakers for what the company claims can offer “an immersive 3D sound experience.”

The Mi TV 4 will come with content from Hotstar, Voot, Sony Liv, Hungama Play, Zee 5, Alt Balaji, The Viral Fever, etc., and 80 percent of the content will be free to access. 3,500 DTH operators in India will be supported by the company’s new TV. The television also comes with a modular TV design which means it can be upgraded in future. The new model features a single cable connection dubbed Mi Port which can connect Mi TV Bar to the display. Xiaomi’s Mi TV 4 models also come with ‘transparent’ stand which makes Mi TV 4 look suspended in the air even without mounted on the wall.

Xiaomi has also added its AI (artificial intelligence) based recommendations UI called PatchWall to the Mi TV 4. PatchWall, which is essentially a skin on top of the Android OS, is based on deep learning AI technology. All Mi TV 4 models feature Samsung or LG 4K display panels. It comes with Cortex-A53 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with Mali-T830 image processor.

The Mi LED TV 4 (55) price in India has been set as Rs. 39,999; Xiaomi says similar TVs by rival brands usually cost around Rs. 2,00,000. The company has priced the Mi IR cable at Rs. 299. Buyers will get 3-month subscriptions for Sony Liv and Hungama Play worth Rs. 619 for free, and the Mi IR cable will be provided free as well. On top of this, buyers will get free installation – priced at Rs. 1,099 – from the company on purchasing the Mi TV 4 within 3 months of release. It will go on sale via Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Flipkart starting February 22.
